The Urban Mediamakers Film Festival will showcase talented minority artists
Returning for their 17th year of celebrating urban film, UMFF comes back to Georgia venues next month. The event plans to celebrate filmmakers, artists, writers, actors, and digital artists who are continuing to innovate and share their projects. The projects apprecaited here are ones that “invoke thought for change” and push the limits of new technology. UMFF calls to light the lack of diversity within mainstream media, and provides an opportunity to highlight and acknowledge the work of underrepresented talents within the African, Asian, Hispanic, and Latino community. These storytellers have a chance to showcase their work and increase their abilities through educational workshops and interactions with other artists.
The event includes special screenings, a film competition, networking opportunities, panels, and educational workshops from October 11th through the 16th. Events on October 11th and 12th will take place at the at ArtBar in Lawrenceville, the 13th-16th will be held at Cinefest Film Theatre at GSU. A special Urban PitchFest will take place on Sunday afternoon to help connect urban creators with investors and producers who can help their achieve their dreams.
