Tyler Perry Studios welcomed the fifth democratic presidential debate, co-hosted by The Washington Post and MSNBC

The debate was held in a section of Atlanta that has evolved in the hands of one of the most successful film and television producers in the world, Tyler Perry. The studios are built on land that was once used by the Confederate Army during the Civil War.

For many Democrats , the transformation of this property is emblematic of what their party stands for: social change and fiscal and political progress for minorities. In addition to its unique location, an all-female panel also moderated the debate. This was the first time during this election cycle that the debate has been solely moderated by women, and the third time ever in the history of the United States.

After the debate took place, Tyler Perry announced that he will be offering studio tours to the public in 2020.
