ASIFA and the Atlanta Film Society to host 19th annual Animation Show of Shows

The 19th annual Animation Show of Shows, from ASIFA-South and the AFS, presents an international collection of entertaining animated shorts. There will be 16 shorts screened in an evening of animation and fun at the Plaza Theatre on June 28.

The special theme of this year’s show is work that speaks to societal and global roles today. The festival is proud to say that 38 of the films that have been showcased in the ASAS have gone on to receive Oscar nominations and 11 wins. Curator and founder Ron Diamond is a well-known producer who has helped connect animation lovers all over the world.

There will be an hour and a half of film screening. Selected works are listed below in chronological order:

• Island – Robert Löbel & Max Mörtl (Germany)

• Unsatisfying – Parallel Studio (France)

• The Burden – Niki Lindroth von Bahr (Sweden)

• Les Abeilles Domestiques – Alexanne Desrosiers (Canada)

• Our Wonderful Nature – The Common Chameleon – Tomer Eshed (Germany)

• Casino – Steven Woloshen (Canada)
