The television executive Michelle Sneed who spent six years at TPS previously, is returning as their president of production and development. She is taking over for Ozzie Areu who launched the Areu Brothers Studio this year after stepping down in January. Previously, Sneed was a member of the production management team, starting back when TPS was in their Greenbriar studio location. Her background also includes director of physical production on the network BET (Viacom), which she leaves to become part of the TPS family again.

Perry has said that he is “incredibly excited to welcome Michelle back to the studio.” He has described her as “someone who embodies the values of TPS, from the diligent work she’s done in development and production execution to identifying and curating talent both in front of and behind the camera. Similar to how I’ve always operated in my film and television projects, during her career she has provided opportunities to those whose diverse experiences and stories are often overlooked and untold.” Having previously worked at TPS from 2009-2015, helping release hundreds of productions, she is excited to return to where her career first began. “I am ecstatic to be returning ‘home’ to Tyler Perry Studios, where so much of my career was shaped and developed,” Sneed has said. “To have this new opportunity to work alongside Tyler in senior leadership is an opportunity of a lifetime. It’s bigger than me — it’s for the culture.”

TPS also is still in a content contract with Viacom, creating original series for their networks and potentially films with Paramount Pictures. It is likely that Sneed’s relationship with both companies will help the processes of that partnership.
