Macgyver stunt coordinator Justin Sundquist has been seriously injured on the Atlanta set of the drama.
According to a source on the set, Deadline reports Sundquist sustained a serious head injury during a stunt that involved transferring between two moving vehicles. Sundquist was conscious after the accident and was placed in a medically-induced coma and hospitalized.
“We have learned about an injury to stunt coordinator Justin Sundquist that occurred late Monday on the set of ‘MacGyver’ in Atlanta,” CBS TV Studio said in a statement released to Deadline. “The production team is cooperating with the authorities investigating the accident, and our primary concern at this time is Justin’s health and well-being.”
Production of “MacGyver” was not interrupted following the accident.
It’s not the first time Sundquist has been injured on the set of a CBS series.
Last year, he sued the network, claiming he was hit by a car while performing a stunt on “Hawaii Five-0”. Sundquist alleges the crew member responsible for safety on set was under the influence of “narcotic controlled substances” when the incident occurred. He cited a “series of reckless, negligent mishaps,” describing it as “a rushed, hectic set,” with a lack of “clear safety instructions” before the stunt took place.
