Atlanta-based producer and musician Ian Schumacher hosts the second installment of Showcase Atlanta on May 24 at 8 p.m.
The showcase takes place in downtown Atlanta at The Cotton Club (in the basement of The Tabernacle), and will include performances from Jacob and the Good People, Dreambrother, Unbreakable Bloodline and Mayhayley’s Grave featuring Captain & Maybelle’s Bonafide Sideshow.
Schumacher partnered with Live Nation Entertainment Inc. to host this monthly showcase in Atlanta.
Schumacher reported that he decided to launch the showcase to highlight bands “that deserve a bigger stage.” He curates the bands chosen each week to help highlight their talents.
“With as hard as they work and as excellent as their music is, they deserve to be seen by bigger music industry professionals,” Schumacher said. “It’s a good look for our city and everyone involved if I can bring together The Recording Academy, Live Nation and some upcoming bands.” Schumacher also reported that the moniker “The Cotton Club” is a tribute to Concert Southern Promotions, which was founded by Atlanta heavy hitters and Music Midtown co-founders Alex Cooley and Live Nation Atlanta President Peter Conlon. “Mr. Cooley and Mr. Conlon are heroes to the whole city,” Schumacher said. “It’s an honor to be able to put on a showcase at their venue. The Cotton Club was one of the greatest Rock clubs Atlanta has ever seen.”
“Mr. Cooley and Mr. Conlon had a natural ability to discover bands that deserved to be heard,” he said. “This showcase gives me the opportunity to go into their venue with some bands that are making a lot of noise but may still be flying under the radar so Atlanta can see what’s happening with our Rock scene because it’s here, it’s vibrant and it’s badass.”
Showcase Atlanta will feature a private music industry networking event for the Recording Academy, Grammy U, and GMP before each showcase. Members of these organizations can enjoy free admission and a private VIP section.
The event is $10 at the door, all attendees must be 18+
