DreamHack 2023 concluded in Atlanta after hosting twelve festivals in seven different countries. The Atlanta edition held many smaller Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) tournaments as well as a handful of major Electronic Sports League (ESL) tournaments.

During DreamHack Atlanta, the ESL StarCraft II Masters 2023 Winter Tournament took place, marking the third installment in the ESL Pro Tour 2023/24 Global Events Series. With a peak viewership of 35.6K, it entered the top five most popular StarCraft events of this year as Clem emerged victorious against his Finnish rival Serral.

The Counter-Strike 2 event welcomed eight elite teams from various parts of the world to compete for a $100K cash prize and a coveted position in the ESL Pro League Season 19 circuit. Viewership peaked at 55.8K viewers during a 2nd round matchup between Apeks and Monte although Virtus.pro would eventually walk away with the trophy.

At the 2023 COD Mobile World Championship, Wolves defeated GodLike in the grand finals. The event also hit 50.7K viewers, making it the mobile game’s most popular event since 2021.

Although it’s still unreleased, Stormgate made its highly-anticipated ESL debut at DreamHack Atlanta. Developed by Tim Morten and Tim Campbell, who formerly helped create StarCraft II and Warcraft III, Stormgate has begun to generate serious buzz in the scene as viewership of its first event reached a respectable 18.3K.

In 2023, DreamHack’s global gaming season of events reaffirmed the trend that ESL or third-party events typically attract higher viewership compared to tournaments directly run by DreamHack.
