The new series “Halt and Catch Fire” on AMC has caused quite a bit of buzz. Aside from “The Walking Dead” and its previous series “Breaking Bad” and “Mad Men,” AMC has been struggling in the ratings against its closest rival FX as well as HBO, Showtime and Starz. AMC might have broken its cycle of disappointing ratings with the new series.

According to IMDb and AMC, the series is set in the early 1980s during the boom of personal computing. The series follows this boom through the perspectives of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy “whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time.” These characters have both personal and professional relationships that are challenged by greed and ego while the world around them changes. Starring in the show is: Lee Pace as Joe MacMillan, Kerry Bishe as Donna Clark, Scoot McNairy as Gordon Clark, Mackenzie Davis as Cameron Howe, and Toby Huss as John Bosworth.

The pilot of “Halt and Catch Fire” pulled in 1.2 million viewers on its premiere night June 1, 2014. The question of many critics is if the show can continue to pull the same large audience.
