On Saturday April 26, BronzeLens Film Festival will join with African American Film Festival Releasing Movement to present the film “Vanishing Pearls.” According to the website, “Vanishing Pearls” is the official selection of the 2014 Slamdance Film Festival. The film discusses the 2010 oil spill in the small fishing town of Pointe a la Hache. The devastating aftermath of the 49-million barrel spill is revealed, along with its effects on the personal and professional sectors of the town. Residents of the area are followed and interviewed to see how the spill was and is currently being dealt with, as the fight continues to rebuild former lifestyles and traditions. The two groups are partnering with the Morehouse College Department of Cinema, Television, and Emerging Media Studios to screen the film. The film will begin at 7:00 pm in the Walter E. Massey Leadership Center Bank of America Auditorium. Please visit the website at http://www.affrm.com/press-vanishing-pearls/ for film clips and more information.
