Sundance Narrows List of Potential New Locations

The Sundance Film Festival, traditionally held in Utah, is seeking a new location for 2027 and the foreseeable future.
Three Georgia cities – Atlanta, Athens, and Savannah – were invited to submit proposals to host, but the Sundance Institute recently narrowed its list to a top six.
The finalist cities include:
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Boulder, Colorado
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Louisville, Kentucky
- Park City, Utah (the current location)
- Sante Fe, New Mexico
Atlanta’s proposal features a $2 million commitment, and a website highlighting the city’s reputation as a premier location for film.
“Coming to Atlanta would allow Sundance to really grow in scale,” explained Chris Escobar, the Atlanta Film Society’s Executive Director. “Atlanta has the ability and has the capacity to not just do it, but to knock it out of the park.”
