Skillshot Media Revives BroadcastHer Fellowship
By Oz Online | Published on July 2, 2024

Skillshot Media and HyperX are reviving their BroadcastHER Academy fellowship program, dedicated to empowering women in esports and gaming.

Despite women comprising nearly 50% of gamers, their representation in Esports careers remains disproportionately low. To address this disparity, the BroadcastHER Academy was established to offer women better opportunities in the gaming world.

This year, the program will select five women. Applications for the BroadcastHER Academy Challenge are open until June 14, with the winners to be revealed by July 12, 2024.

“This program is life-changing for these Fellows. The BroadcastHER Academy opens up so many different opportunities and allows for these individuals to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” explains Austen Roberts, Skillshot Media’s head of production. “We’re extremely proud to be working with 1,000 Dreams Fund and the other partners to advance and create this opportunity for women in esports and gaming.”

Fellows in the BroadcastHER Academy program will receive a variety of benefits:

– A laptop (max of $1,700 value)

– A $500 educational grant from 1000 Dreams Fund

– A resume review session

Additionally, the program offers a free trip to Atlanta’s Skillshot Media facility, where fellows will:

– Shadow the gaming teams

– Learn about broadcast operations

– Commentate a game while live streaming it on Twitch
