Plans for 12 Seasons of ‘The Walking Dead’

According to the producers of “The Walking Dead,” we are not even half way through the storyline of the show. The AMC show is now the most popular show on TV and pulls in 28 million viewers a week. This is great news for all of the show’s fans, but it will be a major challenge to maintain the show for 10 or more seasons. Many cable television series have been unable to reach that goal.

Indiewire reported that Executive Producer David Alpert attended the Producer’s Guild of America’s Produced by Conference where he was asked about producing a show from the comic book series created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard.

“I happen to love working from source material, specifically because we have a pretty good idea of what Season 10 is gonna be,” Albert replied. “We know where Seasons 11 and 12 … we have benchmarks and milestones for those seasons if we’re lucky enough to get there.”

Also, AMC already has a “The Walking Dead” spinoff in the works with new characters and storylines.

“The Walking Dead” will return to AMC with its fifth season in October on Sundays at 9 PM.
