Pigmental Studios is making movies in the realm of children’s literature by securing the rights to the 1973 “Serendipity” book series.

Authored by Stephen Cosgrove with illustrations by Robin James, this series has enchanted young readers around the world for decades, and with more than 80 million copies sold globally, “Serendipity” now enriches Pigmental’s rapidly expanding literary collection.

“We are honored to be entrusted with bringing these beloved books to new generations of young people,” said Pigmental’s CEO Marina Martins. “Pigmental Publishing, through its BookPop imprint, will be re-mastering the illustrations by Robin James, to showcase the vibrancy, and re-publishing the entire collection over the next two years. Our TV and film division, Pigmental Studios, will be developing several of the titles into their own animated series.”

While the creation of an animated series for “Serendipity” begins, this is not all that Pigmental has on the agenda. Recently, the City Council in St. Mary’s, GA unanimously voted to turn Pigmental’s 115-acre parcel of land into a planned development zone, allowing them to move forward with their construction goals.

City Councilman Steven Connor explained that, “in all my years living here, and Artie’s lived all his life here too, I’ve never seen an opportunity like this come into our community. This is a great opportunity for our kids, our adults… I’m just amazed.”
