Amazon is filming the new series Underground Railroad in Georgia

Amazon Prime has brought a new series to Georgia for production. Based of the book of the same name by Colson Whitehead, Underground Railroad is now filming in Georgia. There is a buzz about this film, as the book has won many major awards such as the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award.

Barry Jenkins is directing the film, he is well known for his work directing and writing Moonlight, which won an Oscar for best screenplay and picture. The head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke has been quoted “It’s an absolute gift to have Barry Jenkins commit to directing all the episodes for our upcoming limited series The Underground Railroad. Barry’s eye for character and sustained exhilarating, emotional storytelling style ensures that this project is in the right hands. We can’t wait to get started and bring this significant story to our Prime Video audience.”

The show will feature an outcast by the name of Cora as she comes into womanhood as a slave and takes the risk to escape through the network of the Underground Railroad. Her and another slave Caeser go on a journey to try find their freedom through the heart of America.
