The Karate Kid comes back to life in a spin-off series set to film in Atlanta
The television series is called Cobra Kai, named after the dojo in the original film from 1984. The series will begin filming in mid-October according to production trackers. The show will be set 30 years after the famous karate tournament from the film. The re-opening of the Cobra Kai dojo by the film’s antagonist Johnny Lawrence reignites the feud between him and Daniel LaRusso (the titular Karate Kid). Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will reprise their roles.
The series is currently booked for 10 episodes, which are set to premiere on YouTube Red in 2018.
