The new Jumanji reboot just hit theaters after spending millions in Georgia.
The Jumanji reboot just hit theaters on Dec. 20 after spending $35 million during its time filming in Georgia. The Department of Economic Development’s Office of Film, Music and Digital Entertainment has released the following figures about the production’s spending and hiring. Over 1,200 local residents were hired for the film, around 600 extras and cast, 550 crew members, and 75 off-duty personnel.

The movie, filmed in Georgia from late August 2016 to late January 2017, in conjunction with Sony and Columbia Pictures, stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale. It cost $90 million in total, and over its first week in theaters has grossed $72 million in America; approximately $20 million on Christmas Day alone. Worldwide the film earned $118 million in its first week, yet still has a way to go in order to match the original 1995 version, which earned $262 million on a $65 million budget.
