Georgia filmed Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is being banned in Thailand theaters after students were detained on Thursday at the Hunger Games opening. Activist against May’s military coup have begun using the three finger salute as a silent protest against the government. In retaliation, the military has banned the gesture entirely.
One of the largest movie theater chains in Thailand has cancelled all showings of the film after protesters had a mass gathering in front of the theater, using the symbol. The mass protest came after five university students were arrested for using the three finger salute during Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha speech on Wednesday.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is released in U.S cinemas today.
