Georgia Projects Receive Golden Globe Nominations

Golden Globe nominations have been announced and five Georgia productions are delighted

This year marks the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, and the nominees were announced to the public on Dec. 11. Five people from Georgia-filmed productions have received nominations.

Ansel Elgort of Baby Driver is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. The movie was filmed in Georgia and earned over $200 million at the box office worldwide. It boasts real chase scenes on Atlanta highways and affords local viewers real-life shots of familiar roads.

Helen Mirren has received a nomination for her role in The Leisure Seeker, which was also filmed in Georgia . She is nominated for Best Performance in a Musical or Comedy.

Margot Robbie is nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for her role in the biopic I, Tonya. The movie has only just been released, but is receiving positive reviews as made clear by the quick nomination.

David Harbour of the Atlanta-made smash hit, Stranger Things, is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor In a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. The show itself has been winning awards since its release, and is once again among the nominees for Best Series Drama.

To round out the bunch, Jason Bateman is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor In a Series Drama for his role in Ozark, also filmed in Georgia.

Winners will be announced Jan. 7, so tune in to see which Georgia productions bring home the Globes.
