GEORGIA FILM ACADEMY ANNOUNCES FREE COVID COMPLIANCE COURSE

The Georgia Film Academy (GFA) has taken the giant step of launching the first ever COVID Compliance Course (CCC), a virtual training program to teach safety and sanitation procedures to anyone working on a film set in Georgia. The course will be free to film and television production workers, casts and crews.

The Georgia Film Academy has been helping to build a pipeline for Georgia film workers since 2015, and the compliance course will continue this tradition. The course includes the most up-to-date protocols from the CDC and will be presented entirely online for film employees.

“The GFA is committed to putting Georgians back to work in the film and entertainment industry through the industry-standard course,” said Jeffrey Stepakoff, executive director of the Georgia Film Academy. “We intend to add value to productions with safety protocols based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Public Health.”

The course includes instructional videos and is administered in two parts. The first part addresses more general safety procedures while the second component will be more craft-specific.

“The CCC training program will address industry concerns with policies and procedures that ensure Georgia leads the nation in how to safely reopen and operate the film industry,” Stepakoff said. “This is another way [we] can ensure a bright future for our students.”
