Jessica Lange has delivered an impeccable performance as Lillian Hall, a fictional theater star.

In the film, the main character begins to struggle unusually with her lines and soon discovers it’s due to early dementia. Despite this somber theme, the movie beautifully celebrates theater life while highlighting its personal sacrifices.

The HBO drama guides viewers through New York’s lively theater district and dazzling nightlife although the movie was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, where the crew transformed various sites around the Metro area to resemble NYC and Broadway. 

One key scene includes the theater where Hall practices and performs her last play, with the iconic Strand Theatre at 117 North Park Square in Downtown Marietta serving as the backdrop.
