The European Film Festival of Atlanta will host its third annual event on May 8 – 11, 2024!
The festival, organized jointly by the Alliance Française Atlanta and the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, will take place at the Plaza and Tara Theatres.
This year’s edition will showcase a diverse selection of films hailing from 14 different countries: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
The opening night reception, hosted by the Consulate General of Belgium, will kick off at the Tara Theatre on May 8th, featuring the screening of the Belgian film La Fiancée du Poète. Additionally, the festival will include the screening of the Academy Award-winning film Anatomy of a Fall.
The festival will also include a screening of the Ukrainian documentary 20 Days in Mariupol and will allocate a portion of its proceeds to Helping Ukraine, a nonprofit based in Georgia dedicated to aiding Ukrainians affected by the conflict.
Michel Gerebtzoff, Consul General of Belgium in Atlanta, remarked, “Movies allow us to experience a myriad of emotions and to witness realities beyond our daily routines. Among the selection of European films, we have chosen the Oscar-winning 20 Days in Mariupol, which unfortunately sheds light on the harsh realities of war.” He added, “We saw an opportunity to give back by sharing this impactful film with our Atlanta community while also supporting the Ukrainian community.”
