Avengers: Infinity War hits $2 billion at the global box office in under 50 days
This past Monday, the 48th day since the hit film was released, Avengers: Infinity War‘s global box-office earnings surpassed $2 billion. The Atlanta-filmed movie from the Walt Disney Company is only the fourth ever to reach this historic threshold (not accounting for inflation). The three to have reached this pinnacle of earnings previously are Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, and Avatar. Still, at $655 million in the United States alone, the film comes in fifth, behind the aforementioned films and another Atlanta-made hit, Black Panther. While the film is still gaining on its competition locally, it boasts the record-breaking best domestic debut opening weekend at $258 million. Infinity War is sure to be catalogued in the film industry history books as one of the biggest hits of all time.
